.
I’ve been trying some (new to me) keratex_equestrian products over the past few weeks. Not only do Swatch’s 🐎 feet look fantastic, using my new products are my favorite part of my grooming routine. Today I’m applying the 🥥 Coconut Hoof Balm, a hoof conditioner. I like to clean the hoof wall with the back of my hoof pick and brush over the hoof. (It smells so good 😂) What should I try next?!
.
I sent a few questions to the owners of Keratex to learn what these new products accomplished so let’s learn from the professionals!
.
Claire- I see the hoof balm includes coconut oil and beeswax, why do I need to add moisture to the hoof?

Keratex- The Balm does a little more than add moisture, it’s more of a conditioning product. Coconut Oil is breathable and when combined with beeswax it can deliver a luxurious boost of condition to the hooves. A controlled formulation more than a total saturation of Moisturiser and it sticks around longer on the hooves than a liquid format. Lasting around 2/3 days on the hoof.
.
Claire - “As an eventer, my horse requires more conditioning/trot sets, but our ground in the southeast this season is dry and hard. What products would you suggest for dry and brittle hooves? “

Keratex- For dry and brittle hooves in dry conditions we always recommend the Hoof Hardener (this is a year round/multi-seasonal product for overall optimal hoof quality). If hooves tend to be become overly dehydrated we recommend adding the Balm in which gives a nourishing boost when the climate is dry and harsh. For using in combination it’s important to apply the Hardener first, allow to fully dry/absorb and then the Balm can be applied over the top. The Hardener is a twice weekly product. Best to leave at least 2 days after Balm application before reapplying the Hardener to make sure the Balm has worn off naturally enough to let the next application of Hardener penetrate.
