When you overhear your name in conversation 😳⁣
⁣
The eastern cottontail rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus) takes its name from its signature cotton ball-like tail. When threatened by predators, they can hop up at speeds of up to 18mph, but also may 'freeze' to blend into their environment. If neither option suffices, their powerful hind legs can prove a useful weapon. ⁣
