#WesternWednesday The WIU GIS Center (Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Geographic Information Sciences), headed by Director Chad Sperry, has partnered with the Rock Island County community of Silvis for a project to evaluate water pipes that run from the city's streets into its more than 1,500 homes. Western students are getting real life experience and getting paid to go door-to-door, asking residents to examine the pipe coming into their home from the streets. The students then collect data and enter it into the project database to keep track of what needs to be replaced. Read more at bit.ly/3SbdJ6e
