this week’s true crime tuesday is a little different. this is a case that hit very close to home for me. on may 23, 2014, a violent mass attack unfolded across the college town of isla vista. six people lost their lives, 14 others were injured, and countless people were emotionally scarred for life. i was in santa barbara this past weekend and walked through isla vista, and it brought a lot back for me. i moved to isla vista for college in 2015, the year after this happened, and made so many friends who lived in isla vista that night. going to some of the same places where students lost their lives was always something very unsettling to me. i wanted to share this story in a way that remembers the people we lost, not the person who caused such harm. because the way the community of isla vista came together afterwards is something i will never ever forget. i will always be proud to have lived and gone to school in santa barbara. a community that is forever strong. ♾️ #truecrimetuesday #ucsb #islavista #santabarbara #ivstrong
