we’re entering our nara smith era 🍰 tune into watch finalist @celebratebydim in The Great Australian Bake Off Finale on Binge tonight, Wednesday 20th November! Dimi’s Shortcrust Pastry 225g plain flour 1 tsp salt 150g chilled butter, cut into cubes 1 tablespoon caster sugar 3-4 tablespoons ice water 1 egg 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius. Add the flour, salt, butter, and icing sugar into a food processor. Pulse until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. 2. Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, pulsing between each addition, until the dough starts to come together. 3. Once the dough has formed, remove it from the food processor and knead gently until smooth. 4. Shape the dough into a disc, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes to rest before using. 5. Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface until it's about 3-4mm thick. Gently drape the pastry over your rolling pin, then unroll it over your tart tin. Press the pastry into the tin using your fingers to ensure it fits snugly. Use the rolling pin to roll over the top of the tin, trimming off any excess pastry. 6. Prick the base of the pastry lightly with a fork, being careful not to pierce through the dough. Place a piece of scrunched-up baking paper over the top and fill with baking beads or rice (I prefer rice). Gently press the rice into the baking paper to cover the base. 7. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. 8. After blind baking, remove the baking beads or rice and brush the inside of the pastry with a little beaten egg. Return it to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes or so. Once done, remove from the oven and it's ready to be filled! #buzzfeedoz #tastyoz #bakeoffau #baking #cooking
