It can be intimidating to try to get them to the right level of softness. Miss Grace shows us what she does to get her pointe shoes to the right level of softness and ready for dance 🩰 What other ways have you used to break in your shoes before? 💙Step 1: Hand Molding💙 Bend the pointe shoe both ways where your foot would break it for a demi pointe. This is important to help you roll through your feet! 🖤Step 2: Wing softening🖤 Soften the spot on both sides where your bunions would sit. This makes the shoe more comfortable for you, and also helps with rolling up and down. 💙Step 3: Add water(optional)💙 This optional step helps to soften the wings even more of the pointe shoe! 🖤Step 4: Hammering🖤 Although obnoxious, hammering can help soften the box of your pointe shoe so that your landings are quieter on stage and in rehearsal! 💙Step 5: Foot stretch and hand mold💙 Putting the pointe shoe on, we are able to better see what needs to be softened more, and mold the shoe to the foot. Make sure you label which shoe belongs to each foot! 🖤Step 6: Tredding🖤 Tredding through demi, quarter, and full pointe breaks down the pointe shoe in the right spots for technical pointe work. Make sure your weight is closer to your big toe than your pinky toe, and that you are pointing your foot even in your shoe. 💙Step 7: Foot stretch + knee💙 This helps not only stretch out the feet but soften the shank even more!
