TECHNIQUE TUESDAY!!! With so many dancers at home taking classes, we are going to be posting technical tips to remind yourself of when training at home.

TIP! Watch where your Attitude and Arabesques are placed. The Russian Vaganova placement is the knee behind the working shoulder in Attitude and behind the head in Arabesque. This created beautiful length in the back leg, no shortening here! Remember! The Arabesque and Attitude positions are very important ones! If you watch a ballet solo (male or female) and count how many times these steps are used.... it’s a lot! Don’t forget that an Attitude and Arabesque positions are also used in promenades, turns, adage and jumps (grand jeté, temp levé, sissone) and can be viewed from all angles. We don’t want our working leg swinging out sideways with the upper body and ribs also twisting to balance. Keep both ribs and shoulders square through the body, this structure will help control and centre all your beautiful steps and equally strengthen both sides of the back.
