Tres a Cero. They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but the whole continent got to see that masterclass last night. We really got the ultimate show — red cards, brawls, beer projectiles, and a testy atmosphere from start to finish. What a warm welcome for Balogun too. No goals but class throughout. Add in getting whacked by Cesar Montes and you could say he got the full Concacaf experience. McKennie kissing the badge after the ensuing brawl is sure to become an iconic moment in USMNT history. Just like the Elvis jumpsuit at the Westgate Resort & Casino, that tattered kit deserves to be enclosed in glass and immortalized forever. The game really had everything, and it stretches the USMNT’s positive streak over Mexico to six matches. Undefeated now since 2019, but this one felt different than all those previous encounters. It was confident, fun, and outright commanding. Historic too, if we count that it was the largest margin of victory by the US in a competitive match against Mexico. It was a performance that stacks the USMNT as potential top dogs in the region. But it all comes down to some heads-up action against Canada on Sunday. For all the chips this time.
