62-60. It was a score that was normally one at halftime for the 1989-90 Lions. But it was 25 years ago today that the score was a final and it pushed the Lions to the 1990 NCAA Elite Eight. It was a completely different pace of game for the Lions in the 1989-1990 season - only the fourth game all season the Lions were held under 100 points - as the Crimson Tide used a ball control-defense oriented plan of attack to slow LMU down. LMU showed it could play a defensive game, taking a 62-60 win to advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. The 122 combined points was less than what the Lions had scored themselves in 16 regular-season games. And they did it on the boards. Despite shooting just 33.8 percent, the Lions put up 23 more shots than Alabama - thanks to 20 offensive rebounds. Per Stumer (picture from 1989 NCAA tournament against Arkansas) led everyone with 12 boards, grabbing six on the offensive end. The win continued the Lions memorable run. #LMULions #ILoveLMU
