Happy international superhero day!!   Benedict Cumberbatch approved of my design and we ended up on TV on bbc, itv, ch5?! Mad.  Listen I used to design and make my outfits a lot. Aight this essay is gonna be so cringe, are you ready? So superheroes are what got me to love film when I was younger. It started here. POWERS BRO?!!!? I wanted to teleport so bad. Anything to take me out of the world I found so boring. The Xmen cartoons were my first intro to them back in the day- I was SO young, probably too young-  and watched with my brother. Tbh I should prob thank him for where I am now lmao he doesn’t even knoww. Then I saw Ironman1 when it came out and my life was changed because he broke ALL the conventions of what makes a superhero. I was like ‘there is ABSOLUTELY no wAY he just said ‘I am Ironman’. Jaw = on the floor. Kick Ass was another one we studied in gcses and I continued secondary school watching each hero film the day of release in cinemas - iron man 3 midnight screening in cinema when I had my ALevel exam the next morning. The way we all broke Tumblr with Avengers release because we’d never seen all the heroes in one film. What a timeeee. Bro you just had to be there. Even the Batman trilogy just remains iconic, rip Heath. Uni had me writing my essays on them, I was designing outfits because their costumes are very much part of their iconography. The fact that ‘anyone can wear the mask’. I didn’t even care that I didn’t find representation in them.. I didn’t care - I was gonna make my own.  If you’ve seen my series ‘if I was a character in’, they made me so happy.  So here we are - Doctor Strange with a twist. If you don’t know who Doctor Strange is then this may look pretty weird to you 😂 I’ve changed my feelings on superheroes recently. What actually makes a hero?
