## Caption

Former dictator Bashar al-Assad has been sentenced to death by a Syrian court. He is accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during Syria's 14-year conflict that killed half a million people. Assad is no longer in Syria after fleeing to Moscow with his family when his regime was overthrown nearly two years ago, ending the Assads' nearly 50 years of Syrian rule. Syria's new rulers have asked Russia to hand the Assads over. #News #Channel4News #C4News #Syria #alAssad
