Why does Ivanka Trump want to develop an unspoiled Albanian coastline despite mass protests? The coastal region of Narta is one of the most biodiverse and pristine areas in Europe. It’s home to endangered monk seals, Dalmatian pelicans and thousands of flamingos who’ve lent their name, and image, to ongoing nationwide protests, which are posing a serious challenge to the authorities. The spark for the so-called Flamingo Revolution is a planned luxury development on a nature reserve by Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner. It has angered environmentalists and caused Albanians to question who decides the future of their country. In a statement, the developers said they're working towards creating a world-class destination, rooted in thoughtful design and environmental stewardship, its future, they said, would be determined by Albania and the Albanian people.
