We travelled into Hezbollah’s heartland in southern Lebanon — from Jibchit to Majdal Zoun and Bazouriye, near the Litani river — along the edge of an Israeli-controlled zone where entire towns and villages have been destroyed by months of war. Israel says it is dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure. But many civilians we met — living through the destruction — told us they still see the group, proscribed as a terrorist organisation by the UK and others, as their protector.
