Australia will formally recognize a Palestinian state next month, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced, joining France, Britain and Canada in signaling the move. The decision comes amid criticism of Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, which Albanese called a “humanitarian catastrophe." Nearly 150 U.N. member states already recognize Palestine, though such recognition is largely symbolic without U.S. backing. #palestine #australia #anthonyalbanese #israel #middleeast
