The FBI and local authorities are investigating a troubling attempt to disrupt voting. Incendiary devices were used to set ballot drop boxes on fire in both Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington. Both ballot drop boxes have fire suppression systems that are designed to activate when the temperature inside reaches a certain point, coating ballots inside with a fire-suppressing powder. It looks like the system worked in the Portland drop box, and security staffers were nearby to help put out the fire. But for unknown reasons, the system failed in Vancouver, so hundreds of ballots were destroyed. Vancouver is expected to have one of the closest U.S. House races in the country. Officials confirmed that these incidents, along with a similar one in Vancouver on October 8, are connected. #ballot #voting #2024election #politics #washington #oregon
