## Caption

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has slashed the city budget, taking about $33 million away from the public library system. It’s a dagger to one of New York’s best free resources. This defunding isn’t unique to New York’s libraries. And this divestment from an institution that provides essential community services — books, tech classes, childcare, and tons more — comes at a time when libraries feel more needed than ever. When we’re bored, or cold, or lonely, where will we go if the library isn’t open? #nypl #libraries #publiclibraries #thirdspace #thirdplace #freeresource #community #communitycenter #newyork #BookTok #rfkuang
