This was so severe that we were close to losing her.' Due to her severe reaction, her medical team had to manually realign the bones in both legs without pain medication before placing them into traction using weights. Mrs Ravenscroft underwent emergency surgery, which took a staggering nine hours. The procedure was not performed entirely under general anaesthetic because the opioids had affected her heart.
