## Caption

Thick plumes of smoke darkened skies over Florida's Broward County as a wildfire tore through thousands of acres of the Everglades. As of Monday afternoon (May 11), the Florida Forest Service said the fire had burned more than 11,000 acres in western Broward County and was about 50% contained. Crews from multiple agencies were working to slow its spread, according to local media reports. Forecasters said rain expected in the coming days could help firefighters gain ground against the blaze. #wildfire #florida #news #everglades
