#flashbackfriday: This metal spire, which now stands at the edge of East Campus, was the first piece of #sculpture in the college’s #artcollection. It was commissioned in #1967 and purchased with funds provided by the #classof41. (Swipe to the end for the original news clip.) The triple-spired #aluminum #abstractsculpture was created by Martin Hirsh-Newman of the universityofhawaii Art Department. It was originally placed to the east of the ricstudentunion and later moved to its current home.
