Meet our graduates: Amanda Ruiz is the first in her family to go to college, and also the first to consider a career in #criminaljustice. The #Bronx native is certain she will accomplish three #goals: become a #lawyer, a #professor of criminal justice, and a #advocate for the #publicinterest. “The best thing I’ve ever done is to be a justice studies major,” Amanda says. “It felt like a calling, a gut feeling. At RIC justice studies covers so many other realms. It could involve law, psychology, philosophy or sociology. It’s not just about law enforcement of the judicial system.” During her time at RIC Amanda interned for both #campuspolice and the ristatepolice. Now she’s received a scholarship for an accelerated two-year #masters program in #criminology at northeastern, where she’ll attend in the fall. And eventually, she plans to go to #lawschool.
