## Caption

#throwbackthursday: A card arrives in the mail. Inside are a handwritten note and some #blackandwhite #photos. • A #RICalum, Ms. Sara Kanarian ‘41, writes, “I am at the stage in my life when I am cleaning out ‘old stuff,’ ‘stuff’ I’ve had for many a year... In my oldest picture album I found these snapshots which I had taken of my classmates during the year and on May Day 1941, the year we all graduated.” • Not knowing what do to with these photos, Ms. Kanarian sent them to us. “If there is any place in the college archives which can use these pictures, please, please do so. If not, feel free to use the waste basquet (basket). Sorry for the above spelling error.” • These beautiful photos don’t belong in the waste basket. They belong here for the entire #rhodeislandcollege community to appreciate. In the words of Ms. Kanarian, “Thank you for taking the time to look at these pictures.” Swipe ⬅️ to see them and see below for captions. #RICspirit

5) A view of the #StateHouse from the old R.I.C.E. lawn. Note the #lensflare and strange triangle around the #IndependentMan statue, which are in the original print.
6) Some of Ms. Kanarian’s friends on the balcony of the old R.I.C.E. gymnasium.
7-8) Ms. Kanarian’s friends on the steps of the old building. In 7, the old Henry Barnard School hbsric is seen in the background.
