Former Miss New Mexico Scholarship Organization director Greg Smith reached a plea deal on April 27, nearly seven years after being accused of stealing funds from the pageant organization. Smith, 62, had been indicted on 18 charges, including fraud, embezzlement, racketeering, tax evasion and issuing worthless checks.
