The tax filings are the first that Newsom's office has shared publicly since his reelection in 2022. They also come just weeks after Newsom, a Democrat and outspoken foe of Donald Trump, announced that he and his wife are the subjects of an ongoing Justice Department investigation. Newsom has blasted the probe as 'politically motivated' and an effort by the Trump administration to thwart his rumored 2028 presidential bid.
