Feds plan to rename New York’s Penn Station as part of their takeover project. In a letter sent to Senate leadership, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy listed ‘administration priorities’ for the federal rebuilding of the station. The nation’s busiest rail hub is currently named for the railroad that built the station in 1910. The letter doesn’t say what the station’s new name might be, but Duffy said last August ‘I imagine you’re asking, ‘Is this going to be Trump Station?’” Duffy said. “I think that has a nice ring to it.’ President Donald Trump has tried other tactics to rename the station for himself. In early 2026, Trump attempted to withhold funding for the completion of the Hudson River Tunnel, telling Senator Chuck Schumer he would restore the funding if Penn and Dulles Airport were renamed for the President. The funding was restored by a court order. Schumer told The Daily News the secretary ‘should stop scheming to flatter the president and start delivering the safe, modern station New Yorkers deserve.’ He added, ‘Donald Trump may want his name plastered across every building in America, but he doesn’t get to turn New York landmarks into monuments to himself.’ #news #pennstation #politics #donaldtrump #newyork
