“I am a UC Santa Barbara graduate and while I was in school, I was involved with various organizations such as AS, LGBTQIA+ Orgs, Public Safety Commission, and Greek Life. After graduation, my passion for Student Affairs led me to work as a Program Coordinator at UC Santa Barbara’s Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity and UC San Diego Health's Center for Mindfulness and Zeidan Lab. Currently, as the Executive Assistant to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at UC San Diego, I'm dedicated to creating connections with my colleagues and building a larger web of support on campus.

As a Black, Filipino, queer, non-binary, first-generation military brat who came to the U.S. at the age of 13, discovering the term "intersectional" in college was a defining moment for me. It helped me understand my unique identity and find my community, which gave me a sense of acceptance and celebration.

Apart from work, I'm an advocate and activist for STI/HIV testing, prevention, and harm reduction, promote LGBTQIA+ visibility in various spaces. I am proud to have worked on Pride campaigns with Ugg, Teva, Sanuk, and other brands to provide LGBTQIA+ visibility in various spaces. I am also passionate about drag and maintain an alter ego called "Maddy Mokes." I am the reigning Mx. Black Pride of San Diego and work as the Productions Coordinator for Sister's of St. James Productions.

I take inspiration from my loving family, my empathetic brother, my sincere partner, my fearless drag mother, and community leaders in San Diego. Despite going through challenges like a tumor, poverty, and homelessness, I believe they served a larger purpose and helped me become a compassionate human being.

Essentially, my philosophy in life is to stay on my path, and even though it's not always clear or straightforward, bigger and better opportunities will arise.”
