For nearly two decades, Helen Hill's family has searched for answers.

The filmmaker and mother was murdered inside her New Orleans home in January 2007. Her husband, Paul Gailiunas, survived after being shot while protecting their 2-year-old son.

But as WWL investigative reporter Katie Moore dug deeper into the case, troubling questions emerged about the investigation itself.

Did police unfairly suggest that Paul wasn't cooperating? What does the case file actually show? And how did concerns about evidence handling impact one of New Orleans' most high-profile unsolved murders?

In this chapter of "Mystery in New Orleans: Helen Hill," we examine the investigative decisions, unanswered questions, and potential missteps that continue to haunt the case.
