Barrier contraceptive failure is an unexpected but real possibility, and it’s important to know what to do in case it happens to you. 

First and foremost, don’t panic! There are steps you can take to reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancy and STIs. 

If the c*nd*m broke or slipped off during s*x, it’s important to seek emergency contraception as soon as possible. Options include the morning-after pill and the copper IUD.

Additionally, it’s important to watch out for STI symptoms, schedule a follow-up appointment with your healthcare provider and to get tested for STIs. 

If you are uncertain of your partner’s STI status, it may be a good idea to consider getting tested together. Might consider post-exposure prophylaxis if any concerns for HIV exposure. 

Remember, open communication with your partner is crucial. It’s better to address the situation together and come up with a plan of action.
