Some STIs are treated with antibiotics. It could be a one time dose or medication taken over a couple of days. 

Do not stop your medication even if your symptoms disappear and also wait till your doctor tells you it’s ok before delving beneath the sheets….especially without protection….

You might be asked to wait several days after the one time dose or wait till you complete the regimen that’s taken over several days. It’s also important that the partner(s) get tested and treated to reduce the risk of reinfection.
