## Caption

A Bartholin (gland) cyst develops when a blockage occurs in a Bartholin gland. 

This blockage causes a lump that can cause irritation and pain during walking, sitting or during certain activities. 

Bartholin cysts can resolve on their own over time but sometimes need medical attention especially if it persists and/or gets worse. 

If it becomes infected, it will need treatment by a healthcare provider.
