I read a comment under a previous post of mine which stated it was not normal to have a v@g1nal discharge. Now that is a misconception.

V@ginal discharge is the term for fluid or mucus that comes out of the vagina. It is a combination of cells and fluids continuously produced through the vagina and cervix.

It is normal, keep the tissues healthy + helps to protect against irritants and infections and provides lubrication to the surrounding tissues.

The amount of discharge varies from person to person. It could be heavier during pregnancy, if s*xually active and also if using birth control. It also changes in consistency and volume when you ovulate.

Also, If you’ve ever noticed discolored patches on your underwear/panties, do not worry as this is not a bad sign.

A bleached patch or spot in your underwear is actually normal and is a sign of a normal healthy v4g1na. The natural ph of a healthy v4g1na is between 3.8-4.5 meaning it’s acidic.

There is thought to be an interaction between the discharge and the dye in the fabric which could be responsible for the discoloration noticed.

It is normal to produce discharge daily as a part of the self cleaning process.

If you notice any changes to the smell or volume of the discharge from your normal, you should let your doctor/nurse know.

Do you believe it’s normal to have a v@g1nal discharge or think it’s not healthy? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments.
