More than 1 million s*xually transmitted infections (STIs) are acquired every day worldwide, the majority of which are asymptomatic - WHO

Of the most common STIs, 4 are curable and they include Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and trichomoniaisis. 

In 2020, WHO estimated 374 million new infections with one of four STIs: chlamydia (129 million), gonorrhoea (82 million), syphilis (7.1 million) and trichomoniasis (156 million).

Trichomoniasis (or “trich”) is a very common STI caused by infection with Trichomonas vaginalis, a protozoan parasite. 

It is likely the most common non-viral s*xually transmitted infection (STI) in the world.

In the United States, CDC estimates that there were more than two million trichomoniasis infections in 2018. However, only about 30% develop any symptoms of trich.

Although symptoms vary, most people who have trich cannot tell they have it and unfortunately it is not a reportable disease and routine screening programs generally are not common.
