## Caption

Trichomoniasis is caused by a parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis that can live in s3m3n or v4g1nal fluids.

While trichomoniasis is almost always spread through s*xual contact, only about 30 percent of people with the infection will show any symptoms. 

People can also carry the parasite for many months without knowing it. 

It is possible that either partner could have gotten it in a previous relationship and can unknowingly pass it on to new partners even if it’s now a committed relationship.

If your partner tests positive for trichomoniasis or you have symptoms of it, see a healthcare provider to get tested and treated.
