The Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the USA and the world. 

Most adult men and women will get the HPV virus sometime over the course of their life. 

Knowing the facts, increasing awareness and tackling misinformation about HPV and the HPV vaccine can help you protect yourself and your family from HPV and HPV-related complications.

Listed in the video are the myths. You will find below the corresponding facts. 

Fact 1: Men also get HPV. Close skin to skin contact can lead to an infection. 

Fact 2: Not all HPV strains can cause cancer. Some cause warts while some lead to precancerous cell changes.
The HPV strains that cause cancer are called high-risk HPV.

Fact 3: It can be spread through skin-to-skin contact, so you don’t have to have that interaction to get it. Using protection reduces risk.

Fact 4: There is no treatment available for the virus itself. But there are treatment options for the warts, precancerous changes and cancers.

Fact 5: Most people who have HPV do not develop any symptoms.

Fact 6: Even if you get the HPV vaccine, you still need to get regular Pap smears to screen for cervical cancer.
