## Caption

When Maya was 12-years-old, she was diagnosed with anomalous aortic origin of the right coronary artery and needed open-heart surgery. As an avid soccer player in her New Jersey town, Maya wasn’t sure if she would be able to continue playing. Thanks to the compassionate care and counsel from our Cardiac Center team, Maya not only was able to get back on the field, but eventually contributed to her team’s most winning season in the school’s history! Maya’s mom shares: “None of this would have been possible without CHOP but especially Dr. Dorfman, Dr. Brothers, and her surgeon. I cannot thank them for all that they have done. They will always have a special place in our hearts.”

Now in her senior year of high school, #CHOPHeartWarrior Maya has plans to attend college next year to study law – way to go, Maya! ❤️
