Cameron is a sweet, stylish 6-month-old boy, with a very special heart that put him on the short list of babies who have received the world’s smallest pacemaker. 

Born at 34 weeks in November 2022, Cameron was immediately transferred to our Cardiac Center due to a fetal heart block, a condition that occurs when the electrical impulses that control the heartbeat are disrupted. He eventually needed a pacemaker to help regulate his heartbeat, but there was a problem: the smallest commercially available pacemaker was too big for a baby Cameron's size.

Dr. Maully Shah, Medical Director of our Electrophysiology and Heart Rhythm Program, and our team worked hard to obtain approvals for an adapted version of the smallest pacemaker to be implanted. And now, Cameron is growing stronger every day and looking forward to going home soon.
