Franklin finishes the job 👊 | Surrey vs Hampshire Hawks | Vitality Blast Women EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS

Surrey delivered a statement victory ahead of Women's Finals Day, defeating Vitality Blast league leaders Hampshire Women by six wickets in a T20 clash.

England A seamer Ryana MacDonald-Gay starred with a devastating spell of 3-13, helping reduce Hampshire to 14-5 inside the powerplay, while Bethan Miles claimed 3-22. Despite the early collapse, Abi Norgrove produced a superb unbeaten 52 and shared a crucial 67-run partnership with Pippa Sproul (31) to guide Hampshire to 132-8.

In reply, Surrey chased down the target with 14 balls remaining, thanks to a composed unbeaten 40 from Phoebe Franklin and a typically explosive 38 from Laura Harris. Hampshire's Georgia Adams was the pick of the bowlers with 2-21, but Surrey's batting depth proved decisive.

The match was effectively set up by MacDonald-Gay's new-ball brilliance. She removed Ella McCaughan and Francesca Sweet early, while wickets from Miles and Alice Davidson-Richards left Hampshire reeling at 14-5. Norgrove then led a spirited recovery alongside teenage Scotland international Sproul before Amanda-Jade Wellington added a quick-fire 29 to lift the visitors to a competitive total.

Surrey responded aggressively despite the early loss of skipper Bryony Smith. Vice-captain Kira Chathli provided momentum, while Harris blasted four consecutive boundaries as Surrey raced to 59 in the powerplay. Hampshire fought back through Wellington and Adams, but Franklin's calm innings, including a towering straight six, guided Surrey over the line.
