It’s NikiJabbour here as I’ve taken over the American Horticultural Society Instagram today! My 3rd book, Niki Jabbour’s Veggie Garden Remix, the winner of the 2019 AHS Book Award was a passion project for me. It focuses on the wide variety of global and unusual vegetables and herbs we can grow in our gardens. It was inspired by my in-laws who immigrated to Canada from Lebanon in the 1980’s. I wanted to grow vegetables and herbs they would have enjoyed in their village and began to grow Lebanese veggies and varieties like cucumber melons, za’atar, Lebanese Mountain tomatoes, cuccuza, and kousa squash. I had such success that I was soon growing my favourite Japanese, Mexican, and Indian crops too - in zone 5! Do you grow any global veggies in your garden?
