Challenging yourself is the #BelieveInitiative theme of the month. Luckily the last few weeks I've been able to live this theme by presenting to audiences of 20,000 people at #WeDay with RBC. Though I may not look nervous or scared in this photo, right before I went up on stage my mouth went as dry as sand paper. I quickly grabbed some water, guzzled it in and took my first steps on to the stage. I'm telling you this because today, I had to challenge myself. I had to put aside the nerves that made my mouth dry up, I had to find a way to deal with the way I felt, I didn't think about the "what ifs" if my mouth went dry and I could barely pronounce my words on stage. I tackled 1 problem at a time by drinking the water and then I had to go out and perform. You may feel this way before you go in to an exam, before you go in for an interview, before you play a big game and that's OK! Challenge yourself! Acknowledge that you are nervous but then find a way to tackle the way you feel. Take one step at a time. Get through the first question of the exam, the first play of the game and then suddenly you'll realize it's not as scary as you thought. That's what I learnt today. We all get scared, we all get nervous, but what it takes to move beyond that, is you MUST challenge yourself.
