By recognizing the unique challenges faced by disabled parents, Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-Fla.) is championing inclusivity and striving for a child welfare system that promotes family unity and supports the rights of all parents, regardless of disability. 

As part of the Equality for Families with Disabilities Act, state agencies would be required to include a description of their “procedural safeguards and supportive parenting services” in their federally reviewed child welfare plans for disabled individuals who are parents, relatives, foster or adoptive parents. 

It’s imperative that we amplify Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick’s voice and support the passage of this bill. By removing unnecessary barriers and biases, we can create a system that truly prioritizes the best interests of the child and respects the rights of disabled parents. #ChildWelfare #Inclusion #ParentalRights
