I’ve been saving this one for a minute.....one because it’s our very last senior advice send off, and two because this one made me cry and feel all of the feels. This comes from 4-year member and captain Derby Marshall: My advice for my CC cheer babies: 1. NEVER let anything or anyone get in your way of your goals, including yourself, because you can be your worst enemy. Be consistent and never fall short of your own potential. Cheer is hard, but you’re stronger. Trust your coaches. 2. Be there for your teammates. Always check up on everyone because you never know what’s going on outside of practice. You’re a team, if one person is going through something, then everyone is going through it. You should never feel like you have to struggle alone. 3. ALWAYS be checked in at practice. I know it can be hard sometimes, bad days happen and distracting things can go on during practice, but YOU have to find the balance. When you step through the gym doors it’s work time. You can have fun but when it’s time to be serious you have to be able to flip the switch. 4. Be kind. Kindness is a powerful thing. Spreading it only brings good. Remember, you are representing the school and this program, by showing kindness you are reflecting what people think Corner Canyon is like. 5. And finally, savor every single moment. I know it’s cheesy, but it’s true. These four years fly by. Make every single moment count so that by the end, you’re left with no regrets. People come and go but CC cheer is always. This program is nothing short of magic and is already on to so many amazing things. Thanks for reading this far. Can’t Wait to watch y’all grow even more.
