The ability of a city to provoke us and to take root in our memory is perhaps one of the reasons why we all feel Roman more than Italian Londoner more than British etc. etc. ....

The history of a place is always unique; the way that place is now makes the image of that square and that city more vivid and memorable precisely because it is a kind of time capsule and comes to us from the past....

The history of places calls into question cultural, psychological, symbolic factors; the appearance of places is crucial to the aesthetic experience.
The truth is that both: the history and the appearance of places influence our way of being.
A sign of this influence is just to start looking for practical and historical information about that place on google, safari or with the help of artificial intelligence and then like me maybe draw a façade that has miraculously remained intact or take 20 pictures of it with your smartphone. cafe_des_philosophes_lausanne .
.
The city is the largest and most ‘real’ communication device we know, and the quality of an urban space is based on the experience we have of different places. When we succeed in defining a welcoming, diverse, identifiable, memorable landscape, we have obtained the basis and part of the essence of a beautiful city.
