5 Reasons you should let your kids play with bugs.... (we know, perhaps a little squirmy for adults, but trust us, awesome for kids!) from purposefulmommyblog

1. Science- "When you let your kids play with bugs, they notice so many STEM concepts. For example, structure and design is a perfect concept to learn from plants, animals, and of course, BUGS!"

2. Appreciation for nature- "When you let your kids play with bugs, they learn to understand and appreciate nature. Children will start to see how things in nature work together. The spider is creepy, but it catches the mosquitoes in its web and keeps us from having too many!"

3. Outdoor time- "When your kids are looking for bugs to observe, they are outside, getting fresh air, sunlight, and exercise! Outdoor time can double as education time when they are playing with bugs."

4. Screen-free!- "Kids learn through movement, observation, pretending, touching, etc. When they are on a tablet or watching TV, they are not getting that part of learning."

5. It makes them more brave and courageous!- "One thing that I noticed after reading about, observing, and learning about different insects, bugs, and spiders is the way my son viewed them. Knowledge is power, and this is true of bug knowledge too!"
