Valentine Ice Treasure Rescue 💕🧊 Did you know science experiments and social-emotional learning go hand-in-hand? Social-emotional skills can help kiddos improve scientific thinking by supporting decision-making skills and goal setting. Students can often get stuck on "I don't know what to do next" when results aren't what they expected. SEL skills like decision-making can help students identify the next steps. Put your little one's skills to work with this smart science activity created by ashleymurphyfamily ✨ Here is how to get started:

"1: making the molds using water and baking soda. I filled them all the way, but I would recommend just doing half! We used a silicone heart mold and added little Valentine gems, beads, and sequins as the treasure. When they are frozen, take vinegar and dye it red/pink, then pour or squirt it on top of the baking soda to watch it fizz! as it fizzes and the ice breaks down, the valentine treasures get free!

2: making the molds using vinegar, a drop of red food coloring in each, and valentine treasure! Once it is frozen, line the bottom of the tray with baking soda and watch the reaction, then sprinkle over the top of them and watch again! after that, we took turns pouring vinegar, then baking soda over the top and watching what happens and rescuing the treasure! I wonder if we had put them in water and then done the reaction over the top, it would have been stronger, but we will try that another time! both were soon to watch!"
