DIY Sensory Bin💫 Don’t overthink sensory play! Layout some of your favorite items and let the imagination run. Check out what celenakinsey did to set this up:

So I wanted to show you a sensory setup my toddler created using our storage center from learningresources and how you can create any bin using these few things:
1. Filler of choice- I prefer rice in the toddler years and water in the baby years. ANYTHING can count as a filler so experiment with a few different ones to see which works best for you!

2. Loose parts- if you want to guarantee sensory bin success try to incorporate a high interest item so for us it’s always trucks. Then add some loose parts to manipulate. These can be anything that fits with your theme and can be as simple as wooden blocks or Pom Poms! Try to think of the function of your sensory bin and what you imagine your kid doing with the loose parts- so for this bin I thought he’d like to talk about the different signs and carry the wooden pieces in his truck for building.

3. Add things to fill like cups and containers. Never underestimate the power of a cup- and a child’s fascination with scooping and pouring.

4. Add fine motor tools that are age appropriate- these can be spoons, shovels, scoopers etc but play around with these and see what works best!

And just like that, you’ve created a sensory bin in just a few steps and to be honest- my kid played with his own setup for 40 minutes! So as you can see, it doesn’t have to be complicated and it really can just take minutes.
