Inside Out is back this Thursday, June 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. with DIAMOND LIFE delivering sonic vibrations transmitting boundless energy. Head over to the link in our bio to read DJ DZ Partytime & Jesley Snipes' full LINER NOTES interview with co-producer Lauren Goshinski.

In the case of a rain cancellation, DJs will be rescheduled for a new date, to be announced.

DISCO INSPO
"Music is one of those things where there's always more - no matter how much you think you know, there's always something amazing around the corner. Arthur Russell's 70s disco singles are what singlehandedly got me into the genre. Dinosaur L, Loose Joints, and all his other bands and solo work - the guy knew something because his music still sounds fresh today." - DZ Party Time

“A ‘disco’ can refer to a place (a nightclub for dance music) and a genre. Disco started as a mixture of genres in venues popular with African Americans, Hispanic and Latino Americans, Italian Americans, and gay men in Philadelphia and NYC during the late 1960s, with its peak in the 80s. Disco was a counterculture reaction to the dominance of rock music and stigmatization of dance music, which reflected systems of oppression and white supremacy. Popular tunes like Gloria Gaynor's ‘I Will Survive’ became known because of radio plays, but there were hundreds of influential music producers who laid the groundwork for and innovated the disco sound. Disco music continues to be made today in many variations by producers all over the world.” - Lauren gggoshinski

PAY IT FWD
"Our $5 door cover helps ensure DJs are paid something for their work and is also a way to collaborate with local organizations. We've done fundraisers for the Women's Law Project, PAAR, PGH Zine Fair, and Prevention Point Pittsburgh. This is a great way for us to give a little back and connect with people in a new way. A tip for any young performers out there: throw some cash to the bar staff at the end of the night, and they'll always take care of you."
