ATTENTION: ALL MONEY RAISED FROM MY CLASSES THIS WEEK WILL BE DONATED TO FREEDOM FUNDS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

As a Master VXN Instructor I serve a diverse community: most identify as women, most are minorities. I myself am a first generation U.S. Hispanic. This past week I’ve felt so helpless; this week I don’t have time or space for that. This week will be different. Attend class or, fuck it, just sign up for class and not attend, we just need your $5 to help someone return to their loved ones.

The state of the world requires collective action, something the VXN community prides ourselves in. ⁣
⁣
While VXN allows for an hour of escape from your everyday worries, some things are inescapable, like the systemic disregard for Black lives, as seen most recently through the killing of George Floyd. ⁣
⁣
As a fitness community that benefits from the artistry and culture of people of color, predominantly Black and Latinx artists, it is important for us to speak out against racial injustice and not aid in the perpetuation of it. It is important for us to not just consume the culture birthed by Black people, but to protect Black Lives. ⁣
⁣
Action is required at every level, but this work starts at home. Don’t discount the impact you can have on your community as “just a dance instructor.” Recognize the privilege you have been afforded and leverage it to dismantle systems of oppression. Confront and challenge the everyday racial aggressions you encounter. Participate in collective action and show up, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. ⁣⁣
