Photo taken in 2013: I was 22, weighing 110-113 lbs. That’s the smallest I’ve ever been...ever...like even less than what I weighed in high school. I just started teaching Vixen classes in Miami. I’d teach 3-5 classes a week. An instructor burns about a MINIMUM 500 calories a class, so you can imagine I 👏🏽 was 👏🏽 tired 👏🏽 . And I won’t lie. I was feeling myself. I thought I looked great; I was feeling a confidence I’d never felt before. ⁣
⁣
You know, because I had the typical story of a girl that grew up dancing: extreme dieting, dangerous supplements, mental breakdowns triggered by weight fluctuations. You name it, I tried it (electric shocks to tone muscle WTF). My superlative was “most likely to try anything to lose weight” on my dance team - I still have the sash. I developed stomach issues due to the stress of that lifestyle that still haunt me today.⁣

As I aged, my body started changing and naturally I could not sustain doing cardio at that rate. So I gained weight, BUT my confidence stayed. How? Real talk, Vixen taught me to love myself and celebrate me no matter what shape or weight I evolved into. That’s why I’ve been doing this for 6 years. Because it’s my lifeline. ⁣

As of late, between Vixen, my corporate job, wedding planning, and traveling, I’m STRESSED. But I’m always relieved knowing that I have that one hour of dancing to look forward to. My baseline, my happy. #VixenWorkoutDMV #vixendc
