Universal, long celebrated as a trailblazer in horror, reimagines its legendary creatures for today with Dark Universe—one of five immersive lands at the brand-new Universal Epic Universe opening in 2025. As the most enigmatic realm at Universal Orlando’s latest park, Dark Universe invites guests of all ages—from families to die-hard Monster aficionados—to explore a world teeming with thrilling attractions, themed shops, specialty dining, and unforgettable character encounters.

Conceived by the award-winning Universal Creative team alongside Universal Pictures, Dark Universe weaves together timeless tales of Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, and more, while introducing an entirely new generation of monsters—led by Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, the great-great-granddaughter of the infamous Henry Frankenstein, who carries on her ancestor’s perilous experiments. As visitors traverse Darkmoor, the decimated village at the heart of Dark Universe, they’ll come face-to-face with both classic and modern creatures in a one-of-a-kind theme park environment that balances family-friendly thrills with spine-tingling intensity—only Universal can pull off an experience like this.

WELCOME TO DARKMOOR
The moment guests step through Darkmoor’s electrifying portal, they’ll feel the dark energy pulsate throughout the village, converging at the ominous peak of Frankenstein Manor—Dark Universe’s towering centerpiece. Within these blackened stone walls, visitors can:

Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience
Step into Dr. Pretorius’s erstwhile laboratory, now transformed into a macabre parlor, where talented artists adorn guests of all ages with elaborate face paint and temporary tattoos. Embrace your inner creature and flaunt your Monster fandom in style.

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment
Universal Orlando’s most harrowing dark ride yet plunges guests into Frankenstein Manor’s eerie catacombs, where Dr. Victoria Frankenstein aims to demonstrate her power over monsters. When her attempt to control Dracula goes horribly wrong, a horde of enraged creatures—The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Brides of Dracula, and more—break free. Riders must navigate pitch-black corridors, evading each sinister being in a heart-pounding escape.

Curse of the Werewolf
On the edge of Darkmoor’s foreboding woods, discover this spinning family coaster inspired by “The Wolf Man.” First, The Guild of Mystics’ seer, Maleva, warns guests that they bear the werewolf’s curse. Then, they board a wagon and race through the forest, striving to outpace the pack before succumbing to their own transformation.

Meet the Monsters
Throughout the shadowy streets of Dark Universe, guests will cross paths with a variety of iconic characters, from Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s Monster and the captivating Bride of Frankenstein to Ygor, The Invisible Man, and an eccentric monster hunter. A talented musician roams the village as well, regaling visitors with haunting melodies and tales of classic Universal Monster lore.

Between adventures, guests can satisfy their appetites and browse Darkmoor’s themed retail locations:

Das Steakhaus
This ominous eatery, run by vampire “familiars,” sizes up patrons as potential new recruits for their midnight feast. Surrounded by dark artwork and artifacts chronicling the village’s nocturnal denizens, diners can enjoy kebabs, burgers, sandwiches, and more—if they dare.

The Burning Blade Tavern
Once a blazing windmill, this former mill remains aflame while serving as the favored haunt of Darkmoor’s monster hunters. As guests sample burgers, wings, bratwurst, pretzels, and specialty beverages, they’ll hear boisterous tales of the legendary “Hounds”—proud hunters from beyond—plus admire an impressive trove of monster heads displayed as grisly trophies.

De Lacey’s Cottage
Nestled near Frankenstein Manor, this quaint food stand pays homage to the original Frankenstein’s Monster, who once found friendship and sustenance here. Visitors can pick up cinnamon bread, ice cream, twisted taters, and other tempting snacks.

Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities
Take home a memento of Dark Universe with exclusive merchandise—apparel, accessories, and collectible items inspired by the land’s monstrous inhabitants and scientific curiosities.
