In 1993, Universal Studios Hollywood partnered with the Baywatch television series, starring David Hasselhoff, for a cross-promotional campaign.

About
Baywatch is an American drama television series centered on a team of lifeguards who patrol the beaches of Los Angeles County, California, and later, Hawaii. The show starred David Hasselhoff and was created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz, and Gregory J. Bonann, who also served as executive producers throughout its 11-season run. Blending action and drama, the series followed the professional duties and personal lives of its characters, portrayed by a rotating ensemble cast that included Pamela Anderson, Alexandra Paul, Gregory Alan Williams, Jeremy Jackson, Parker Stevenson, David Chokachi, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, David Charvet, Yasmine Bleeth, and Nicole Eggert.

Initially canceled after one season on NBC, Baywatch found new life in syndication and eventually became the most-watched television show in the world, attracting more than 1.1 billion viewers weekly. Despite receiving largely negative reviews from critics, it became a global pop culture phenomenon, frequently referenced, spoofed, and parodied.

The original series aired from 1989 to 1999. In its final two seasons (1999–2001), the show relocated to Hawaii and was rebranded as Baywatch: Hawaii, featuring a refreshed cast. The franchise also spawned a spin-off, Baywatch Nights (1995–1997), and a feature film adaptation released in 2017.

Universal Studios Hollywood is both a working film studio and a theme park located in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County, California. Approximately 70% of the property falls within the unincorporated area known as Universal City, while the remainder is within the city limits of Los Angeles. It is one of the oldest and most iconic film studios in Hollywood, still in active use. Branded as “The Entertainment Capital of LA,” the destination originally began as a tour of Universal’s real film sets and has since evolved into the first of several full-scale Universal Studios theme parks worldwide.

Adjacent to the theme park, NBCUniversal developed a facility near the Universal Pictures backlot to consolidate its West Coast operations. This location now houses the studios for KNBC, KVEA, and NBC News, as well as the Los Angeles bureau for Noticias Telemundo. The Universal City area also features major hospitality and entertainment venues, including the Universal Hilton & Towers, Sheraton Universal Hotel, and Universal CityWalk—a vibrant retail and dining district that includes an 18-screen Universal Cinema and a seven-story IMAX theater.
