ABOUT
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood

Over five years in development and inspired by J.K. Rowling’s beloved stories and the Warner Bros. film series, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ has been meticulously brought to life at Universal Studios Hollywood. This immersive land captures the iconic sights and spirit of the franchise, anchored by the majestic Hogwarts™ castle as its centerpiece.

From snow-dusted rooftops and cobblestone pathways to a British village's rich, historic charm, every corner of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter whisks guests into the magical universe they’ve only read about or seen on screen. The journey begins beneath a stone archway, where Hogsmeade™ bursts with life—shopkeepers tending their storefronts, the Hogwarts™ Express conductor greeting visitors, and bustling taverns full of guests eager to explore. The land features thrilling attractions like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™, and Flight of the Hippogriff™—Universal Studios Hollywood’s first outdoor roller coaster.

With a wrist flick, guests can perform spells across the land at 15 interactive wand magic locations. Two new spell experiences joined the lineup this summer: Incendio, which conjures bursts of flame, and Alohomora, which reveals a hidden fire-breathing creature behind a locked door—if you can unlock it.

The attention to detail throughout the land is spellbinding. Guests can enjoy authentic fare at Three Broomsticks™, Hog's Head™ pub, and the Magic Neep™ and Butterbeer™ carts. Shopping is just as enchanting, with eight themed retail destinations including Honeydukes™, Ollivanders™, Owl Post™, Zonko’s™ Joke Shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges™, Gladrags Wizardwear, and Filch’s Emporium™ of Confiscated Goods.

Following the phenomenal success of the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Parks & Resorts officially announced the West Coast expansion on December 6, 2011.
